About Mr. Zacharias Kunuk Français
Over 20 years ago, Zacharias Kunuk brought home to Igloolik the Arctic's first video
camera from the sale of his carvings. Since then, he has directed and produced almost 30
documentary and dramatic films. His most recent, Atanarjuat, The Fast Runner, is the
internationally acclaimed recipient of over a dozen major awards. Zacharias Kunuk is also
president and co-founder of Igloolik Isuma Productions, Inc, Canada's first Inuit-owned
independent production company, preserving and enhancing Inuit culture, and dedicated to
creating a professional Inuit style of community-based media production.
