Welcome to the website of the University of Montréal’s Department of Communication.
Communication is currently a flourishing field. At the era of blogs, chat, multimedia art, Global Justice Networks, immersive technologies, virtual organizations, portable multimedia and podcasting, ever-changing communication practices modify the way we do things as well as the way we apprehend the world. To prepare future professionals for these new realities and enable them to understand their issues, the Department of Communication offers a number of undergraduate, graduate and PhD programs. In any area of communication, whether it be organizational communication, communication and information technologies, political communication or the media, communication graduates from our department are ready to take on these new challenges.
With the international recognition of its professors, its team of experimented junior lecturers and its competent and committed administrative staff, the Department of Communication welcomes every year students who are drawn by both a multidisciplinary and specialized curriculum. At the undergraduate level, we offer a bachelors degree in communication, a bachelors degree in communication and political science, as well as a major and a minor in communication. At the graduate level, the department offers a master’s program in communication (M.Sc.) sanctioned by a thesis or a directed essay. The department also offers a joint Ph.D. program covering no less than six areas of study.
Beyond its excellent teaching and research activities, the department is also a welcoming and stimulating place which hosts a lively student life, animated by two dynamic student associations.
