About Prof. Graham Murdock Français

Graham Murdock is reader in the Sociology of Culture at Loughborough University
(UK). Before moving to Loughborough, he worked for some years at Leicester University
where he was a leading member of the pioneering centre for Mass Communication Research. He
has been a Visiting Professor at the University of California at San Diego, The Free
University of Brussels, Bergen University, and Stockholm University. He has written widely
on the social and cultural organisation of mass media but is best known for his work on
the political economy of communication and on the future of broadcasting. He is a former
head of the Political Economy Section of the International Association of Communication
Research. His work has been translated into fourteen languages. He is currently
researching the social impact of new communication technologies and the relations between
broadcasting and the Internet.
